This is a non-clinical step designed to ensure you start in the right place before any consultation or treatment.

Foundation is the first stage within the Right Path framework, providing a structured, consultant-led approach to understanding your condition and creating a clear, personalised plan.

This is delivered primarily through a virtual model, allowing continuity, clarity, and expert oversight before progressing to any in-person assessment or treatment.

What’s Included in Foundation

Foundation is delivered as a virtual, consultant-led assessment and planning process, ensuring you start in the right place before any face-to-face care is considered.

Across All Foundation Levels:

Virtual consultant-led assessment
Biomechanics and gait assessment
Clinical reasoning and diagnosis
Virtual follow-up consultations
Request of initial imaging where indicated (typically X-ray)
Review and interpretation of investigations requested as part of your pathway. This does not include review of external imaging or investigations performed outside this pathway (i.e. NHS or imaging requested elsewhere).
N.B. Investigations are arranged as clinically indicated and the cost is not included.
Personalised clinical plan (“Blueprint”)

Additional in Stable and Strong:

MSK functional assessment
Request and coordination of advanced imaging where appropriate (e.g. MRI, CT, ultrasound)

Additional in Strong:

Advanced investigations, where required
Consideration and review of further tests (e.g. blood tests, DEXA scan)
Input from other specialists if needed

What is Excluded

The Foundation stage focuses on assessment, decision-making, and planning.

The following are not included and, where required, are arranged separately:

Face-to-face consultations or clinic-based assessments
Imaging costs (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound)
Blood tests or other investigations
Review of imaging or investigations performed outside this pathway
Procedures or treatments

Prices may vary depending on provider, location, and timing, with higher costs for expedited appointments or some specialist centres.

Second Opinion Review

A consultant-led review of your existing diagnosis, imaging, and treatment plan.
This is typically requested by patients or referring clinicians who want confirmation of a diagnosis, reassurance about a treatment plan, or guidance on next steps.

Includes

Review of existing imaging and reports
Clinical interpretation
Clear recommendations and next steps

This service is designed to support and reinforce clinical care.
It is not a medico-legal consultation,
and is not intended for the investigation of complaints,
disputes, or concerns regarding previous care.
If you are seeking a formal medico-legal opinion,
this requires a separate process.

Single-Episode Consultations

Most patients will already have been guided into a Foundation pathway through the Right Path Orientation.

Single-episode consultations are available for specific questions or focused advice, but do not provide the same level of structure, continuity, or personalised planning as Foundation.
