Cartilage Repair Surgery

An ankle sprain can damage both the ligaments of the ankle joint but also the cartilage surface on the dome of the talus. This can cause persistant deep seated pain that may not go away.

Am MRI scan can confirm the diagnosis. For small lesions, microfracture is reasonable. For larger lesions, or for progessional sports people replacement cartilage with ‘Chondroguide’ may be indicated.
